"A Stone in My Hand" by Cathryn Clinton is about a family living in Gaza City. My topic is about violence and I chose this book because it deals with the violence going on in the country. Malaak, is an 11 years old whom lives with her mother, older sister Hend, and her older brother Hamid in Gaza City. It's been a month since her father to look for a job as a mechanic in Israel. There are tensions between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Every day she imagines herself flying to the prison cell where she believes her father is being held in. Each day becomes a struggle for her whenever her mother tell her that her father is no longer alive. It only gets worse whenever her brother Hamid and his friend Tariq join in a hate group. Whenever the rest of the family finds out about it they knows they're in danger, and they try to get them out of the hate group. But they weren't successful with trying to take him out. Then, Hamid gets shot and is rushed to the hospital but is he going to live or die?
